Different Remote Blogging Interfaces

We've been testing our new remote blogging interface for the Link Builder Network called Blogging Central, and while doing that I decided to enumerate some of the alternative remote blogging interfaces I am aware of. These include some very interesting and quite powerful programs. Here are the ones I've looked at:

Windows Live Writer - This is a slick program from Microsoft that interfaces with many different blogging platforms including Wordpress and b2Evolution - the two I am most interested in. I haven't actually tested it with other platforms such as blogger.com, but I am assuming it will work. For better or worse it lets you create complex posts that include tables and css elements. As with some others, this program requires you to individually configure each blog account you want to access. When you are dealing with more than 50 accounts, as in the case of the Link Builder Network, this can be a royal pain.

Scribfire for Firefox - Scribefire is a Firefox plugin. In other words, it only works with the Firefox browser. Scribefire is a very slick way to interface with many different types of blogs - including Wordpress, Blogger, Moveable Type, and a few others - but not b2evolution. It lets you create relatively complicated post layouts using tables and images, and it even lets you edit previously created posts. Unfortunately, there is no easy way to setup your logins. You will have to manually enter more than 50 blog logins for the Link Builder Network. And you will have to do that for each computer you want to use it with.

w.Bloggar - This is another free program that has been around for a while and has gone through a number of versions. It is currently in version 4.03, so you can be sure it is fairly stable. This program will interface with all our Wordpress and b2evolution blogs. It takes a bit of getting used to, and you must set it up for each of the blogs, but once set up it is quite efficient. We have used w.Bloggar for approximately 12 months to make posts for clients, so we know it is reliable. It is a bit more restricted on the formatting side - no tables, for instance - but this is probably a good thing. You can also load all your account logins and passwords by entering them into am .xml file and loading them all at once - a major time saver to be sure.

There are other programs like these, but I am not familiar with them.

The advantage of Blogging Central is that it is a dedicated system designed especially for posting to the Link Builder Network Wordpress blogs. Once in the system there is no need to login to each blog, and you can send the same post to as many as 4 blogs at once.

I will have a Blogging Central video up very soon.

What Good is an "Interface"?

I just read over my previous post and realized that unless you are already familiar with posting to a number of blogs, it is probably not clear what I am talking about.

The problem is this: you have access to a number of blogs - either ones you have created yourself, or others you are allowed to post to - and you need an efficient way of posting to them. Normally this involves actually going to the blog, logging in, posting, and then logging out.

But what if you want to post to 25 or 50 different blogs, as is the case with the Link Builder Network? This becomes a very time consuming process. Is there a way to create blog posts and just "send" them to the blog?

Yes, there are several programs that will do this, and I've mentioned 4 of them in the previous post. The one we created for our own set of blogs is called "Blogging Central", and you can have access to it by joining the Link Builder Network.

Free Wordpress Part of Niche Blitz

Creating a free Wordpress blog at wordpress.com is a good addition to a niche blitz program.

Niche blitz is a concept we are working on at Linknet Promotions which will be released both as a DIY niche building product, and as a service we will be offering selected clients.

You can join the Linknet Affiliate program and promote this and other lucrative and in-demand Linknet products.

At Linknet Promotions we create Wordpress blogs for clients, to help promote their services. This is done as part of two services we offer: Link Building Level 3, and Niche Blitz.

Wordpress blogs are used because Wordpress has high ranking with Google, and gets crawled very quickly and very regularly. A Wordpress blog - whether self-hosted, or hosted at wordpress.com - is an excellent way to build links and begin creating a neighborhood of inter-related resources focusing on specific keywords.

Review-of-the-week.com features Product Feature Pages — pages dedicated to descriptions or reviews of  products or websites.  Product Feature pages can include photos and graphics (as long as these are readily available), and can have links pointing back to your (single) site.  Product Feature Pages are linked from at least 5 blogs, a number of  high traffic article and announcement sites.

10 Simple Kitchen Organizing Tips

A lot of the times we mean to get in there and finally organize the kitchen, but once things get out of control the job can seem so daunting and you just don't know where to start. These top 10 kitchen organizing tips will help make your kitchen pleasant and welcoming.

The best way to start a big task is to start small and think of one thing at a time. If you think of everything you need to do you may just never do it!

Here are some easy kitchen organizing tips:

Mentally Prepare - Look in your kitchen and make a mental note of what belongs in there, what can be put away, what you don't need anymore, etc.

Organize Kitchen Cabinets - Take everything out of your kitchen cabinets, clean, and place them back into different categories such as glasses, plates, baking trays and so on. If your cabinets are organized you will save a lot of time during cooking.

Clean your Pantry - It's amazing the things you'll find stored in the back of a pantry. We often buy things we already have because we simply can't find them. So, take everything out of the pantry, clean and place back in categories. Use one shelf for dry foods such as cereals, pasta, etc. Use another for canned goods, and so on. Use baskets in your pantries for smaller items like stock cubes and gravy mixes. This will make them easier to find and avoid spillage from opened packets.

Use a Spice Rack - By simply using a wall-mounted or counter top spice rack you can save a lot of cabinet space and have your spices close at hand. Clearly label your spices and place the ones you use more often towards the front of the rack.

Clear your Counter Tops - Remove any items you don't use on a regular basis from your counter tops. Instead, store them in a cabinet or even your basement or garage (if you don't use them very often). Group appliances together for conveniences like the toaster and coffee pot.

Organize that Junk Drawer - Okay, just because we all call it the "junk drawer" doesn't mean it shouldn't be organized. Take a look through and throw out any items you many not need. Place small baskets in there to store items like batteries, clips and all those other interesting things we seem to collect in our kitchens.

Clean up your Cleaning Products - Buy an inexpensive plastic dish drainer and place it under your sink. These make it easy for you to organize cleaning products, sponges, etc. Please remember to keep a lock on all cabinets with dangerous items if you have young children.

Clean that Fridge - Every time you go grocery shopping clean out your fridge. You'll find lots of things in there which have gone bad, are empty, etc. Throw out all these items and give your fridge a good wipe. Bacteria in fridges can accumulate quickly so you want to make sure this area is cleaned weekly.

Set up a Message Station - If your kitchen allows, set up a specific place for the telephone, messages, keys, etc. I have a small peg board where I keep reminders and messages. Underneath that there's a wall-mounted key rack, and under that a small desk with the telephone, a basket for mail, a calendar and pens and paper for writing. Having an area like this can save you tons of time and you won't loose messages or mail again. If you don't have space for this in your kitchen then place it in your hallway or living room.

Invest and be Clutter Free - Now you can find all sorts of inexpensive organizing products and gadgets for your kitchen and home. If possible invest in a few of these as they will make your job much easier. A simple pegboard where you can keep photos, messages or your kids works of art can be a lifesaver. The same thing goes for a plastic bag organizer or good spice rack. Invest a little and you'll reap the rewards in time saved and much more pleasant kitchen to cook in.
